Britney Jean Spears,
singer, dancer, songwriter, actress.
1998–2000: Rise to fame
Britney released her debut single Baby One More Time,
which was ranked number on the Billboard's Hot 100.
She released an album in 1999,
which peaked at number on the Billboard 200.
Baby One More Time's music video featured her
in a midriff-baring schoolgirl uniform,
followed by her performance during her tour,
where she ripped off a black suit,
revealing a provocative nude-coloured and
crystal-adorned outfit, generating much controversy.
2001–2003: Career development
Britney released third studio album which did not do well
as compared to her previous album, even though
she co-wrote five of the track albums.
it became number one in the U.S.
she danced erotically with a large albino python
draped over her shoulders to her song I'm A Slave 4 U,
during the MTV Video Music Awards Performance,
and performed the song Like A Virgin
with Christina Aguilera, which was later joined
by Madonna. Britney and Madonna locked lips,
which was highly-publicized.
2004–2005: Greatest hits and remix album
Britney took a career break after her marriage to
Kevin Federline, releasing her first greatest hits collection,
Greatest Hits: My Prerogrative,
and later in November, she released her first remix
album, B In The Mix - The Remixes.
2007–2008: Return to music
Britney released her fifth album, Blackout,
which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 charts.
Fairly received by the critics, it was the first album
that she shared about her thoughts and life.
Gimme More peaked at number three on Billboard's Hot 100,
and the highly-anticipated Britney comeback at the 2007
MTV Video music Awards was rather disappointing.
"Her performance would go down in the
history books as being one of the worst
to grace the MTV Awards." - BBC
However, the single has achieved success worldwide.
and yeah, we blogged about her life and
not the head-shaving thingy.
